Stupid carebear herpa-derp near miss here.
Decided to run a L5 on this char, my first evar L5. Used a pretty standard double LAR, 4x hardeners mission Domi, didn't even have T2 heavies or sentries then. So, crap DPS, fully active tank, not even a cap booster (typing all of this is making me want to headdesk now). What buffer? Did have a few buddies in PvP-ready BC's waiting for the okay to warp in and help kill stuff faster and put up some fight in case of a gank attempt and just for team fun, and a Guardian. Having never seen a L5 before, I realized I might be in trouble when everything that was supposed to spawn spawned, and then I started picking up aggro, and then I got blasted by neut towers. I knew they would be there, but I didn't know they would slaughter my cap that quickly!..
As I was frantically micro-managing my active modules and waiting for enough aggro so the soft Guardian could warp in and save me, the armor kept dropping lower and lower. Seconds seemed to last forever. Frantically trying to pop the neut towers, fffffuuuu short ranged Garde I's. First hint of hull damage. Reason said "warp out NOW, right NOW!", instinct said "wait.... wait...." Come on aggro, come on! Taking more hull damage, thank god the DCU uses almost no cap, still trying to micromanage the armor tank to suck the last drops of hope out of it, death is imminent. My instinctive estimates were that if the Guardian were to start warping in now, it would be safe from NPCs and I might still be alive by then. "LOGISTICS, WARP TO JEAN, warp to jean! I need cap and armor!!!" Hull at 50%, manage to get one LAR cycle off and cycle two hardeners, more hull damage, go go go Guardian! 30% hull... One more LAR cycle. Guardian on grid... Yellowboxing... 15% hull... I haven't been popped by NPC's in a long time, and never on this char, I would be disappoint. Whew, cap is back, tank is back on, armor coming back.. Made it with about 10% hull. But the rest of the mission was easy and relaxing, even with combat probes overhead
So many lessons learned as a result of this hurr durr. Including how expensive hull repairs at stations are for battleships, and how long local hull repair takes when one is too cheap to pay for it.
